Almost one in eight shops out of 45 London retailers visited were found to be selling fags which flouted new rules.Our investigation found almost one in eight shops selling packets which are banned under new rules The map shows the locations where our mystery shopper was able to purchase banned fag packets As of May 21 this year, shops have been banned from selling ten-packs of cigarettes or boxes with branded packaging.Instead, only those with a standardised dull green design or boxes with at least 20 cigarettes in them can be sold, making the cheapest pack of fags now at least £8.82.The law technically came into force last year but shops were given a 12-month grace period to get rid of old stock and bring in new sizes and the plain green packaging.Our reporter visited 45 shops just one day after the new rules came into force and was able to buy six forbidden packets, in six separate shops around the capital.This included three ten-packs fags and three packs with branded boxes.
