See section 6.3.2 and 6.3.2a-c for additional details regarding seeding in the Elimination Stage.The first-place Competitor after the final elimination stage game will be named the winner of the Madden Championship.The Madden Championship will be held in Burbank, CA.Sponsor will provide travel accommodations at its cost for the invited Competitors, with Sponsor’s sole discretion as to airlines, hotel and related transfers.Travel will be provided according to the following schedule: Hotel accommodations will be for (one (1) double occupancy room) at a hotel close to the tournament venue.Incidentals, including, without limitation: telephone calls, facsimile charges, Internet charges, spa/beauty salon services, laundry, tours/excursions, gift shop purchases, hotel processing fees, airline service charges and any other expenses not mentioned in these Official Rules are the sole responsibility of the Competitor and his or her guest, and the Competitor may be asked to reserve for any such incidental charges by providing the applicable hotel with a credit card.

Competitors must sign a Declaration of Eligibility to Travel prior to accepting travel accommodations to the Madden Championship and a Winner’s Declaration before accepting any prize monies.If a Competitor is contacted at the email address associated with their EA Account and does not respond as directed within 48 hours of attempted notification, fails to sign and/or return the Declaration of Eligibility to Travel within the required time period, refuses the prize, is ineligible to accept the prize, or is unavailable to travel between April 26 through May 15, 2017, the Competitor forfeits the prize and the opportunity to receive travel accommodations.If a qualifier is 18 or older, as required, but a minor in his or her state, country or providence of residence, the Competitor’s parent, legal guardian, or parents/guardians (as required by law) will be required to sign all necessary documents.Receiving travel accommodations or a prize is contingent upon compliance with these Official Rules; all prizes claimed in accordance with these Official Rules will be awarded.
In the event that a Competitor is disqualified or the prize is forfeited for any reason, Sponsor will award the applicable prize, time permitting given the nature of the prize, to an alternate winner using the tournament format, described below, from all remaining eligible Entries.Only 4 alternate winners will be selected, after which EA retains the discretion to donate the applicable prize to a charity of our choosing.Competitor may be required to provide a shipping address to claim prize.Allow up to 8 weeks for delivery of prize.Each eligible competitor will submit a lineup within the constraints of the MUT Salary Cap Ranked game mode prior to select phases of the tournament.A competitor’s MUT Salary Cap Ranked lineups must consist of a home & away uniform, a coach, an offensive & defensive playbook, and 34 player items that are of equal or lower cost to the total cap value (1100).The 34 player items are made up of 2 flex positions and 32 mandatory positions that need to be filled as such: QB1, HB1, WR1, WR2, WR3, WR4, TE1, TE2, FB1, LT1, LG1, C1, RG1, RT1, LE1, RE1 or LE2, DT1, DT2, LOLB1, ROLB1, MLB1, MLB2, CB1, CB2, CB3, CB4, FS1, SS1, FS2 or SS2, K1, P1.
The Salary Cap total for all phases of the Competition will be set at 1100.The tournament operator may change this value in select phases of the Competition at their sole discretion, in order to ensure the fairness of the Competition.The tournament operator has the right to adjust the restricted items list as needed with no prior warning in order to ensure the fairness of the competition.Player items, playbooks, and teams that cannot be used in tournaments are listed as follows: There are no restricted items as of April 10, 2017.All matches during Online Elimination (both Single Elimination and Group Stage) will be a best-of-one game (Bo1).Each Competitor in the group will play each other Competitor one time for a total of 3 matches per Competitor.The top two Competitors from each group, based on Wins within the group, will advance to the next round.The following criteria will be used in this order to break ties in which Competitors in the same group have the same number of Wins within the group.
Once all ties are broken, no additional criteria will be used.If a three-way tie is broken, leaving a two-way tie, the two-way tie will be broken by 6.5.1.Fewest combined points allowed in matches played against tied Competitors: Highest combined points scored in matches played against tied Competitors: Results from a new series of tiebreaking matches between tied Competitors (if time permits).After a series of tiebreaking matches are played, the tiebreaking procedure will start over with 6.5.1 using only the results of the tiebreaking matches: Competitors will be allowed a brief warm-up period to get comfortable with their station set up.Afterwards, it will be expected that Competitors will be ready to begin match play at the scheduled times.If a bug or other unexpected incident occurs in the game, both Competitors are responsible for alerting a tournament admin to the incident.Competitors who attend the Madden Championship must follow apparel guidelines that Sponsor and the NFL Entities will provide following the end of Online Elimination.
Apparel choices must be disclosed to Sponsor and approved prior to start of the Competition.Matches will be assigned an estimated time to start along with a check-in time given to the Competitors to be ready to play.Matches will be played in the presence of tournament administration.Competitors should confirm the result of each game and a recap of technical issues that happened during the game to the tournament administration as soon as the match concludes.If a Competitor intentionally disconnects from the game and is not able to reconnect to the game, then a loss will be given to the Competitor.It is at the sole discretion of the tournament administrator as to what constitutes an intentional disconnect.If a Competitor unintentionally disconnects from the game and is not able to reconnect to the game, then tournament officials will determine if the game state can be restored to a similar point.If the game cannot be restored, then the tournament administrator will use their judgement on how to restart the game.
At any time during a live match, an administrator may ask a Competitor to pause their game for any reason.Competitors are expected to follow this guidance promptly and within reason.Competitors have until the start of the 2nd quarter to report any settings that were configured incorrectly to their expectations.In a situation where a Competitor’s setting(s) was configured incorrectly, tournament officials will suspend the match, correct the setting(s), and then resume the game from the last game state.The tournament operators will provide the following equipment at the Competition to facilitate the tournament: Competitors are allowed to bring their own controllers to be used during the Competition.All controllers must first be reviewed and approved by tournament administrators prior to use in competition.Personal devices (such as smartphones, tablets, or other smart devices) with the ability to facilitate communication to another person (other than a tournament administrator or emergency staff) such as mobile phones and smart devices are not allowed to be in possession of a Competitor while they are actively engaged in a game.
Tournament operators will provide a safe storage area for all personal items.If the following conditions are met during a game at the Madden Championship, at the sole discretion of the tournament operator a game may be ended early and victory awarded to the Competitor with the score advantage in the interest of continuing the tournament in a timely manner.7.5.1 A Competitor has a 32 or greater point lead at the end of the first half.7.5.2 A Competitor has a 25 or greater point lead AND the losing Competitor has had at least one opportunity to possess the ball in the second half.7.5.3 A Competitor has a 24-point lead with possession of the ball AND the losing Competitor has had at least one opportunity to possess the ball in the second half.The maximum point differential that is allowed to be reported as a score in a group stage between two Competitors is 24 points (example: 24-0; 31-7; 66-42).When the final score differential exceeds the maximum point differential that is allowed to be reported, points will be subtracted from the winning player’s score until the differential is 24.
Only reported scores are used when determining Advancement from Group Play Tiebreakers.If any Competitors fail to meet their obligations or violate rules before the tournament, then they may be disqualified and replaced with a substitute Competitor (depending on the phase of the tournament).Default wins will only be awarded at the discretion of a tournament administrator.Outside of the enforcement of rule 7.6, Competitors are discouraged from conceding matches.Concessions will be allowed without penalty in emergency situations as well as situations that do not impact the placement of other Competitors outside of the current match.Competitors that concede matches during Group Stage will be penalized unless authorized by a tournament administrator.8.1.1 Quarter Length: 5 minutes 8.1.2 Play Clock: 40 seconds Competitors can adjust the following settings provided that there are no bugs or game imbalances caused within the Competition mode.8.2.1 Auto Sprint: Default On 8.2.2 Auto Strafe: Default On 8.2.3 Heat Seeker: Default On 8.2.4 Ball Hawk: Default On 8.2.5 Switch Assist: Default On 8.2.6 Auto Play Flip: Off Lineups in MUT: Salary Cap are managed through Madden NFL 17’s lineup screen.
Onside kicks are not allowed in the first half.A Competitor may attempt an onside kick at any time in the 2nd half if they have scored fewer points than their opponent.Neither the offense nor defense should purposefully go offsides with the intent of delaying the game nor exhibiting unsportsmanlike conduct.Intent is at the sole discretion of the tournament administration.Competitors may not audible out of the QB Kneel, Wildcat, Field Goal, or Punt offensive formations.The ice the kicker mechanic cannot be avoided through the manipulation of play calls during the same down that “Ice the kicker” has been activated.However, a competitor on offense who is “Iced” may choose to run a play other than FG kick in order to advance to a new down.During the new down, the offensive player may attempt a FG without having to adhere to the rules of the mechanic.Any attempt to glitch the game in order to gain an advantage is prohibited.This includes, but is not limited to the following situations: 8.5.2 Audibles that cause an unresponsive defense 8.5.3 Intentionally slowing down a defense at the line of scrimmage to cause an offsides penalty.
8.5.4 Procedure After a Glitch Penalty: In the event that a tournament administrator determines that a penalty was caused by an unauthorized glitch, one or more the following actions will be taken to return the game to a fair state depending on the result of the play.All Competitors will be given guidance on how to handle penalties once they have advanced to the Online Elimination phases of the tournament.The use of Third-Party programs to alter the Madden NFL client or PlayStation®4 or Xbox One console is strictly forbidden and will result in an immediate disqualification from the Contest.It is forbidden for Competitors to watch video streams and/or to listen to shout casts of their own matches while the match is still in progress.Competitors must conduct themselves in a reasonable manner, maintaining an appropriate demeanor to spectators, members of the press, tournament administrators, and to other Competitors.These requirements apply both offline and online, including with respect to social media conduct.
All Competitors are expected to adhere to the standards of sportsmanship at all times.Every Competitor is asked to maintain an adequate level of respect with the other Competitors and the referees.Threatening behavior towards the referees and the other Competitors will not be tolerated.Incidents and punishment will be identified at the sole discretion of the tournament administration.Competitors must abide by the instructions made by the tournament administration at all times.All Competitors must follow Sponsor’s directions.Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any Competitor from the Competition at any level, any time, and for any reason.Competitors will be asked to select a unique name to identify themselves for the online elimination and live produced broadcast.This name can be the same as their PSN ID or Xbox Live Gamertag, but is not required to be the same.The name must be unique from other Competitor names and must not be deemed vulgar by Madden League Operations.Abusive behavior, including harassment and threats is prohibited.
Fighting or any physical abuse directed at any Competitor, spectator, official or any other person is prohibited.Damage and/or abuse to game consoles, controllers, or any provided tournament equipment is prohibited.Any action that interferes with play of a game, including but not limited to purposely breaking a game station, interfering with power, and abuse of in-game pausing, is prohibited.Gambling, including betting on the outcome of games, is prohibited.Disclosure of any confidential information provided by EA SPORTS or any of its affiliates to any other people or groups of people, including via social media is prohibited.All Competitors must make best efforts to make themselves available for post-tournament awards ceremonies, interviews, and the entirety of the live event and any promotional activities reasonably requested by EA.Competitors shall not carry out any promotional activity in connection with the Competition unless otherwise approved in writing by EA.Players in the Madden NFL Championship Series have the ability to acquire and work with ad sponsors.
However, if the ad sponsor falls under the below limited categories, then player may not display or promote this sponsorship in conjunction with EA, its partners, or the Madden NFL Championship Series.EA has the ability to update the below list at any time and may disqualify any player for failing to comply with these rules in its sole discretion.The following is a nonexclusive list of prohibited ad sponsors: Alcohol, Tobacco, and/or Non-“over-the-counter” Drugs.Madden Ultimate Team Coin promoting or selling websites or companies.Firearms or any type of weapons.Products or services from direct competitors of EA, its partners, and its other subsidiary brands.Direct competitors of the NFL’s Official Marketing Partners.Collusion is defined as any agreement among two or more Competitors to disadvantage other Competitors in the Competition.Collusion between Competitors is strictly prohibited.Examples of collusion include, but are not limited to: Intentionally losing a match for any reason at any time during the Madden Championship Series or during qualification for Series Events.
Playing on behalf of another Competitor, including using a secondary account, to aid them during the Madden Championship Series or during qualification for Series Events.Soft play, defined as a Competitor not taking reasonable and fair actions to gain advantages against their opponent during a match.Agreeing to split prize money.Competitors must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol while participating.Smoking, including the use of eCigarettes and vaporizers, is prohibited except in designated areas.Competitors must wear attire appropriate to the circumstances and location at which the event is taking place.At the discretion of tournament administration, penalties can be assessed for violations of rules or conduct not listed here both during and outside of the Madden Championship Series that violates the spirit of a fair competition.Penalties that can be assessed include, but are not limited to the following: 10.6.2 An enforced 5-yard penalty (multiple enforcements allowed) 10.6.3 Clock runoff for a specified amount of time 10.6.4 Loss of down and a specified # of yards.
10.6.5 Loss of possession (i.e.forced punt) 10.6.6 A deduction of points scored during a group stage 10.6.8 Disqualification from the Series Event 10.6.9 Loss of future prize money.10.6.10 Loss of Madden Championship Series Points 10.6.11 Temporary or permanent suspension from the Madden Championship Series 10.6.12 Suspension of one or multiple game accounts to the EA Live Service owned by the Competitor.These rules may be modified as necessary during the tournament to add further clarity, correct errors, or address a situation that is not already contained in the rules as of the first publishing.The goal of any edits will be to ensure a fair tournament through consistent rulings.EA reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Competition, or any part of it, if any fraud, technical failures or any other factor impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Competition, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion.If terminated Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, determine the winners from among all non-suspect, eligible entries received up to time of such action using the judging procedure outlined above.
